About Lake Placid Florida
Learn more about Lake Placid below and reach out to us if you are ready to buy a mobile home in Palm Harbor or the surrounding area!
The history of Florida’s Lake Placid is just as interesting as the town itself. It was founded in 1925 and was first known for its massive citrus operation. However, it’s known more so for being the former home of the creator of the Dewey Decimal System, Dr. Melvil Dewey.
While Dr. Dewey owned acreage in what was originally known as Lake Sterns, Florida, he also had a hand in founding the Lake Placid Club in upstate New York. It was also he who was responsible for Lake Sterns eventually becoming Florida’s very own Lake Placid. Thus, the tale of the two Lake Placid’s is connected by the creator of the Dewey Decimal System.
Lake Placid is an unincorporated part of Highlands County, home to over 100,000 people.
The area is located in central Florida about 90 minutes from either coast and the same distance to all of the theme parks available in Disney.
As you can imagine the area offers so many exciting day trips!
Paradise Village Mobile Home Park, Tropical Harbor Estates, and Sunshine RV Resort are just a few of the beautiful mobile home parks throughout the Lake Placid Florida area.
