Background:
Lake Placid Florida is located in Highlands County Florida which is located in the center of the state that has a full time population of just over 21,000 people.
An easy day trip in either direction provides folks who are looking for a day out on the town easy access as both coasts of Florida are within 90 minutes of the town as well as Disney and their world renowned amusement parks and entertainment are just 90 minutes to the North.
Closer, larger cities such as West Palm Beach and Tampa around just over 60 minutes away making Lake Placid a great central location with larger attractions not far away while still providing its residents with the small town feel that central Florida is known for.

Wall Murals In Uptown:

By far the most artistic and beautiful part of the “uptown” area of Lake Placid are the 47 life like murals that have been painted on the sides of walls. Here, local artists started contributing their work starting in 1992 as the project was originally put together by local art enthusiasts Bob and Harriet Porter.
If you are looking for information both on the past and current lifestyles of Lake Placid residents, make sure you take the time to view all the murals as the art was based on the cities past and present.
Toby’s American Clown Museum:

For all you jokers on this road trip, this is a must stop!
Founded in 1993, the museum provides over 700 pieces of clown memorabilia, art and fanfare from several decades of the past.
This stop won’t take long but will certainly add to the fun of the visit!
Lake Placid Tower:

Originally called the “Happiness Tower” it is constructed in solid concrete block and provides a beautiful observation tower over the entire city just off of US Highway 27.
Now a cell phone tower and not a tourist attraction to take part in, this tower is over 240 feet tall and is one of the main focal points of the city where locals use it as a central directional point for area activities.

Jaxson’s Bar And Grill:
If southern cooking is what you are looking for make sure you take a stop here as you will not be disappointed!
Known for its all you can eat local cat fish, Jaxson’s provides a fun and friendly family dining experience with inexpensive plates made for all ages.
One of the added bonuses is that it is open much later than some of the other restaurants, when we were there it was open and serving a full menu until 10PM!
Glenda Jean’s Country Kitchen:

If you are looking for some of the best homemade cinnamon rolls in the state of Florida then make sure to take a stop here!
Known for its hearty lunches, servers calling you by your first name and a feeling of being a local, Glenda Jean’s is the place to go for breakfast when stopping through Lake Placid!
Real Estate In Lake Placid Florida:
If you are relocating or simply wanting a second place to call home then Lake Placid offers several locations that are affordable and provide plenty of amenities that the whole family can enjoy.
For the senior crowd, there are several manufactured home parks in the area that offer some of the lowest lot rents in the entire state including Paradise Village, a water front community complete with its own onside manager, walking trails and club house.
One of the biggest selling points of Paradise Village is the fact that their community pool is directly waterfront so one can watch the boats go by while enjoying their afternoon swim!
If you have little ones in tow then there are several neighborhoods that are nearby the #1 Rated Sebring Florida Metro Rated High School, Lake Placid High School.
Here, students have plenty of opportunities to participate in a myriad of afterschool activities, challenging advanced placement courses as well as gain real world employment experience for whatever lies ahead for them after graduation.
